In 1974, under the leadership of Chairman and CEO Richard Sellars, Johnson & Johnson expanded its global footprint by establishing an operating company in Singapore. The new business marked the beginning of a significant presence for Johnson & Johnson in that country and continued the company’s growth in the Asia-Pacific region that began with the opening of an operating company in Australia in 1931.
By 1977, the Singapore operating company was officially recognized as Johnson & Johnson Pte. Ltd. In the following decades, the company’s presence in Singapore grew to encompass all business segments, including MedTech and Innovative Medicine. The establishment of the Asia-Pacific headquarters in Singapore’s Science Park in 2018 further solidified Johnson & Johnson’s commitment to the region, providing a hub for innovation and training to meet both local and global healthcare needs.
“As the company celebrates 50 years of Johnson & Johnson in Singapore , we are committed to continuing our legacy of delivering transformative healthcare solutions to improve the lives of Singaporeans and communities around the region,” says Marcus Desmond - Area General Manager (Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia & Philippines), Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine.
