The Makers Of PEPCID® Partner With Ted Allen And Eater.Com To Celebrate Great Taste Without The Heartburn Pain

FORT WASHINGTON, PA (April 16, 2014) – To help food enthusiasts in their pursuit of elevated tastes, the makers of PEPCID® are teaming with culinary expert Ted Allen and Eater.com to launch the PEPCID® Tastemakers Series. Heartburn doesn’t just affect those chowing down on massive plates of hot wings or indulging in fried food at the ballpark. Heartburn can strike anywhere, even after a decadent meal at a Michelin-starred restaurant. In fact, 83% of self-proclaimed food lovers admit to frequently experiencing heartburn when sampling new cuisines or eating their favorite foods.[1]

As part of the PEPCID® Tastemaker Series, the brand will arm food enthusiasts with the tools they need to avoid heartburn pain and enjoy their next great bite through exclusive online content on Eater.com, the go-to source for in-the-know food and dining news. PEPCID® and Eater.com will also host two exclusive dining events to provide restaurant obsessives with unique culinary experiences that are so photo-worthy, they’ll run out of hashtag room in their photo captions.

Ted Allen, host of Food Network’s Chopped, heartburn sufferer and PEPCID® user, will co-host the first of the PEPCID® Tastemaker Series private dining experiences at one of the nation’s hottest restaurants, Pok Pok Ny in New York City. At Pok Pok Ny, guests will eat their way through an exquisite Thai food menu curated by Chef Andy Ricker and his award-winning culinary team.

“I’m excited to partner with the PEPCID® brand to help fellow food enthusiasts learn how they can continue exploring the country’s booming restaurant scene and experimenting with exotic ingredients even if they are a heartburn sufferer,” said Ted Allen. “I’m not going to let heartburn stop me from eating any of the foods I want to eat, whether for work or in my personal life. I am grateful to have found PEPCID® because it provides me fast relief that lasts.”

The PEPCID® Tastemakers Series will then head to Petty Cash Taqueria in Los Angeles where esteemed Chef Fabian Gallardo will tempt guests with off-menu spicy dishes inspired by classic Mexican flavors, and renowned mixologist Julian Cox will pair the perfect beverages to help guests to cool down.

And so that everyone can enjoy great taste – the PEPCID® brand didn’t forget about those not in New York City or Los Angeles! Food lovers across the country can enter the #PEPCIDPerfectPlates Facebook photo contest for their opportunity to win $5,000 to host their own Tastemakers dinner. [2] As any food obsessive will tell you, the end of the meal is just as gratifying as the beginning; after all, it’s an accomplishment. From April 21 through May 18, food enthusiasts will be encouraged to go to the PEPCID® Facebook page to upload a picture of their perfect plate – the empty one from the end of a great meal - along with a caption that creatively describes the experience. Allen, an expert in perfect plates, will pick his favorite photo as the winner.
