Innovation is a concept that is at the heart of everything Johnson & Johnson does and it’s a core part of Our Credo—the mission statement that has guided the company for more than 80 years.
Once again, this dedication to innovation has been recognized. Johnson & Johnson has been named to Fortune’s annual ranking of America’s Most Innovative Companies—as it has been every year since the list was launched in 2023. This year, the prestigious list consists of 300 companies, and Johnson & Johnson is the top-ranking healthcare company at number 13.
The pillars of an innovative company
Fortune’s ranking is based on three pillars: product innovation, process innovation and innovation culture.
• Product innovation focuses on a company’s products and services, evaluating them on their attractiveness, usability and uniqueness.
• Process innovation takes into account all processes of the company, from sourcing and production to marketing, sales and support from the point of view of employees, experts and customers.
• Innovation culture gauges how the company fosters the spirit of entrepreneurship and creativity internally and supports the implementation of ideas. The opinions of employees mattered most, but noncompany experts like recruiters and human resources professionals were also included.
The high rate of innovation is a hallmark of Johnson & Johnson, and the company made a strong showing in all three categories.
From cardiology to cancer, mental health to vision, and cell therapies to robotics, the depth and breadth of Johnson & Johnson’s expertise and capabilities in developing medicines and medical technologies are unmatched. The company is honored to once again be named to Fortune’s America’s Most Innovative Companies list.
