Meet Maree Macey - a wife and mother of one who was born with a rare condition called Spondyloepimetaphyseal dysplasia, a genetic bone growth disorder that results in short stature. Her condition meant that she was more prone to injuries which often developed into serious health conditions and caused incredible pain in her joints. So much so, that she was operated on 29 times before the age of 30.
Maree was desperate for knee replacement surgery to regain mobility and reduce her day-to-day pain, but she was turned away by surgeons due to the complexities of her condition. She was preparing to be wheelchair-reliant for life until she met with Mr. Veysi T Veysi, Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon from Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
Mr. Veysi T Veysi partnered with a team of specialists from the DePuy Synthes ‘Make to Order’ Team at Johnson & Johnson MedTech

The success of the surgeries has given Maree a new lease of life; she had a daughter and was able to enjoy motherhood in a way she didn’t think would be possible. She’s grateful to be able to resume her green-fingered activities and spend time in her garden, growing fruits and vegetables to make homemade condiments of her own.
