“As an electronics workshop, we look after the entire power distribution in the factory. Since we are a medium-voltage user, we are taught how to set up and maintain emergency power systems, UPS systems (uninterruptible power supply) and emergency lighting systems. We assist in the maintenance and troubleshooting of electrical systems for building services such as heating/cooling and ventilation systems, as well as production systems. Under supervision, we carry out repairs and control measurements on systems and equipment. As a member of the training association for industrial apprenticeships in the Schaffhausen region (avil.ch), we are transferred to other companies for 3-month training blocks to learn further skills.”

As an automation technician, you build electrical controls, apparatus, machines or automation systems and put them into operation. You work on the commissioning of automated systems, carry out repairs and rectify faults. Another focus of your work is the creation of technical documents.
